A rare and deeply expressive work of Indigenous artistry, this hand-carved eagle by Squamish Nation master carver Paul Joseph is a testament to the enduring power of Northwest Coast Native tradition. Completed in 1981 and signed by the artist himself, this piece carries both cultural significance and the quiet authority of a work made with intention and skill.

Rendered in rich, hand-worked wood, the eagle — a revered symbol of strength, vision, and spiritual connection in Coast Salish culture — is carved with the precision and fluency that defines Joseph's mature style. Measuring 16 inches in length by 6.5 inches wide and a slender half-inch in depth, the carving is designed to be wall-mounted, lending it an almost sculptural presence when displayed.

Minor surface scratches are present on the face of the carving, consistent with its age and preloved history. We encourage you to review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition assessment.

His work is distinguished by its technical mastery and its fidelity to the visual language of his ancestors, making each piece both an art object and a living cultural document.
