Brutalist Bronze Nail Mug Sculpture – Mid-Century Modern Walnut Base Deco
A powerful, raw piece of industrial design — a Brutalist-style studio metal sculpture discovered at a prominent estate in Los Osos, California. This compelling piece seamlessly blends everyday forms with the aggressive, tactile energy of the 1960s Brutalist movement.
Constructed from heavy solid bronze, it features a deep cone-shaped funnel form completely pierced by radiating spikes forming an outer cage of nails along the body, rim, and handle. The interior houses rows of inward-facing pins creating a dense, thorny focal point. The entire surface is sealed in a distinctive matte protective coating. Rests on a thick solid block of beautifully finished walnut wood.
